Officials of S. Korean Gaeseong Firms Visit Joint Venture

Officials of South Korean firms that have operations at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex are visiting the industrial park to check on their facilities. Such a visit is the first to be made since the two Koreas agreed on resuming the joint venture’s operations.

A total of 253 South Koreans entered the industrial complex on Thursday, including officials from some 40 electronics and machinery firms.

Ahead of departing for the border city, the South Korean officials said that they hope operations will resume as soon as possible once facilities are restored.

The group will return home at around five p.m. after concluding inspection.

On Friday, officials of textile and sewing firms will visit the complex. Starting from Monday, employees of companies that need to urgently inspect their facilities will be allowed to visit the joint venture regardless of the type of business.
