North Korea’s state-run media says leader Kim Jong-un has made an important decision on the defense of the country’s security and sovereign rights.
The North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Monday Kim reached the decision while chairing an extended leadership meeting of the ruling Workers' Party's Central Military Commission.
The KCNA said various political situations and the state of North Korea’s military were discussed at the meeting, and the commission decided on practical ways to further boost combat strength of the armed revolutionary forces.
The news agency also reported an organizational issue was discussed and Kim made an important decision that will serve as a guideline to firmly maintain sovereign rights, national security and to swiftly realize the Workers' Party's goal of a military-first revolution.
But the report didn't specify what the decision was or when or where the meeting took place.
Experts believe the event likely refers to a Central Military Commission meeting convened Sunday and the decision concerns the military, including operations, personnel reshuffles and organizational restructuring.
