Monthly Korean Movie Ticket Sales Top 20 Million

August isn't over yet but ticket sales for domestic films have already set a monthly record in South Korea.

The Korean film Council said Monday 24-million-360-thousand tickets were sold between August first and the 25th, breaking the previous monthly record of 18-million-90-thousand in February.

This is attributable to the unwavering popularity of some mega-hit Korean movies such as “Snowpiercer,” “The Terror Live,” “Hide and Seek” and “The Flu.”

“Snowpiercer” drew eight-point-eight million people, “The Terror Live” five-point-four million, “Hide and Seek” over four million and “The Flu” two-point-seven million.

With the success of the four films, the combined sales of Korean movies have also hit a record of 145-point-six billion won.
