S. Korea Calls on N. Korea to Revoke Asset Seizure at Geumgang

The South Korean government is calling on North Korea to revoke its seizure of South Korean assets at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort.

Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Hyung-seok said in a news briefing Wednesday Seoul does not acknowledge Pyongyang’s unlawful confiscation of the South Korean assets. He reiterated the government will not link the reunions of separated families to the issue of resuming tours to Mount Geumgang.

The spokesman explained the South raised the issue of the North’s illegal asset seizure at Red Cross working-level talks, because the scheduled reunions of separated families will be held at facilities at the Mount Geumgang resort, which Pyongyang threatened to confiscate.
