N. Korea Hints at Use of Ski Resort for Winter Olympics in S. Korea

North Korea’s International Olympic Committee (IOC) member has hinted the Masikryong ski resort being built in the North could be utilized for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games in South Korea.

Voice of America reported Tuesday committee member Chang Ung said the facility is for various sporting events, possibly even the Olympics.

On Sunday, North Korea’s First Vice Sports Minister said the North is willing to open the ski park on the North Korean side of Gangwon Province for the Pyeongchang Olympics if a request is made by the South Korean government and international organizations.

The vice sports minister made the statement to Japanese media when he revealed the construction site of the ski park.
