The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) opened its regular News Group Meeting in Seoul and Wednesday agreed to strengthen cooperation in international news.

The meeting is being held at the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), South Korea’s largest public broadcaster, where company Executive Vice President Ryu Hyun-soon gave welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony.

Ryu said by sharing global news, media firms in the Asia-Pacific can provide better service to viewers.

Participants of the ABU News Group Meeting visited a KBS news studio after the conference and observed a digital news production scene using augmented reality technology.

The ABU News Group consists of 27 public broadcasters in the Asia Pacific region including KBS and Japan's NHK. The group has been operating a news swapping network daily since 1984.
