Koreas Discuss Details of Reopening Gaeseong Complex

South and North Korean officials are holding more talks on restarting a joint Korean business venture in the North.

On Wednesday, two subcommittee meetings of the joint management committee on the Gaeseong Industrial Complex opened at 10 a.m. Talks are expected to focus on management reform, internationalizing the complex and protection for investors.

Two subcommittee meetings will be held Thursday to discuss border passage, communications, customs clearance and South Koreans' stay in North Korea.

Reconnecting the Yellow Sea inter-Korean military hotline will also be addressed. The South Korean government says the military hotline must be operational before production can resume at the Gaeseong complex.

A date to reopen the complex will likely be determined depending on how Thursday’s talks play out.
