N. Korea Ignores Seoul's Request on Lodging for Family Reunions

North Korea has yet to respond to Seoul’s request for specific lodging for South Koreans traveling to the North for family reunions this month.

A government official in Seoul said Tuesday that Pyongyang has remained silent over the request to book rooms for South Koreans at the Geumgangsan and Oegeumgang Hotels at Mount Geumgang.

The official said Seoul wants bookings at those hotels considering the large number of people attending the reunions.

The official noted although there is much expectation for the reunions, the North could make excessive demands. The reunions scheduled for Sept. 25-30th are the first being held in three years.

Pyongyang has also yet to respond to Seoul’s proposal of holding inter-Korean working-level talks on October 2nd on resuming tours to Mount Geumgang.
