A survey by a local news magazine ranks the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) first in reliability, influence and avid readership among domestic media.
The weekly magazine, Sisa Press, surveyed one thousand experts of various fields in its annual poll on media outlets.
Thirty-eight-point-seven percent of the surveyed chose KBS as the most reliable media firm, up eight-point-six percentage points from last year. This was KBS’s third year in a row to top the category. In second and third were the Hankyoreh daily and Kyunghyang Shinmun daily.
KBS also ranked first in terms of influence at 63-point-seven percent. The Chosun Ilbo daily and Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) followed in second and third.
As for readership, KBS moved up from fourth to first this year at 23-point-nine percent.
Sisa Press says it's the first time for KBS to top all three categories since it began the survey in 1989.
Media Research was commissioned to carry out the survey between August 30th and September 9th. Over the phone, it interviewed 100 experts each from ten fields including government, academia, journalism and law.
