Koreas Exchange Candidate Lists for Family Reunions

South and North Korea exchanged on Monday lists of candidates for inter-Korean family reunions next week in the North.

South Korea’s Red Cross sent a list of 100 people as the North confirmed last week the survival of 167 people on the South’s confirmation request for 250 in the North.

The South selected the final 100 based on priority to older people seeking to be reunited with their immediate family members separated by the Korean War. The North also narrowed its list to 100 people based on the South's confirmations on the survival of 149 on its previous list given to the South.

The two Koreas plan to hold six days of reunions for separated families from September 25th at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort. This is the first time for reunions to be held in three years.
