Gaeseong Industrial Complex Operating During Chuseok Holiday

South Korean companies at the joint industrial complex in North Korea will operate their factories throughout the Chuseok holiday.

Four hundred South Korean workers went to work at the complex in North Korea on Wednesday, the first day of the five-day weekend. North Korean employees will also punch in throughout the holiday except for Thursday.

South Korean firms at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex will keep operations rolling throughout the holiday expect for Thursday. The companies are looking to quickly recover from losses suffered when the complex closed for five months this year. The inter-Korean factory park just reopened on Monday.

South Korea's chairman of the Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee, Hong Yang-ho, said on Tuesday the complex is operating at 56 percent after two days of being open.

The Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee plans to hold a joint ancestral ceremony at the factory park for workers who cannot make it home for the holiday.
