No. of Inter-Korean Visitors Jumps from Zero to 2800 in July

The number of people who crossed the inter-Korean border soared from zero in June to over two-thousand in July.

The Unification Ministry said that the number of South Korean visitors to the North stood at two-thousand-814 in July as talks for the resumption of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex began in earlier that month.

The July visitors were business officials of the firms with factories in Gaeseong or the factory park management personnel. There were no South Koreans visitors to other regions of North Korea.

The ministry also noted that the 36-member North Korean female soccer team visited South Korea to participate in the four-nation Women's East Asian Cup in July. It was the first time for North Koreans to visit South Korea since 2011.
