Kookmin Bank said Thursday the daily sales of Lotto tickets marked a record 35.9 billion won (US$30.5 million) Wednesday in a testament to the lottery fever sweeping across the nation. According to the bank, which manages the lottery, it is almost three times the amount sold a week earlier, breaking a record daily sale of 27.8 billion won Tuesday. The country's largest lender estimated the weekly amount of Lotto tickets to be sold by Saturday will reach 200 billion won. Of the sum, 46 billion won would be allocated as first-prize money, in conjunction with the 25.8 billion won carried over from the last three lotteries that produced no top-prize winner.
