North Blames South for Delay in Family Reunions

North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) has blamed South Korea for the delay of inter-Korean family reunions.

The news agency said Friday that Seoul is trying to justify the postponement of this week’s reunions. It said said Pyongyang called off the meeting since its efforts to improve South-North relations were being manipulated by the South.

The news agency said it was South Korea that strained efforts to promote reconciliation and cooperation between the two Koreas.

Last Saturday, the North postponed inter-Korean family reunions scheduled for six days from this Wednesday at the Mount Geumgang resort in North Korea.

The North’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said the family reunions would be delayed until proper conditions for dialogue are met. The committee said the South Korean government is using inter-Korean talks to forge confrontation between the two Koreas.
