Seoul to Give $6.3 Mln to WHO for N. Korea Assistance

The Unification Ministry will give six-point-seven billion won or six-point-three million dollars in aid to the World Health Organization's (WHO) humanitarian assistance program for North Korea.

Unification Ministry vice-spokeswoman Park Soo-jin said at a news briefing Friday the Inter-Korean Cooperation Fund will provide the money to help North Korean infants and children.

The WHO's North Korea assistance program, which will involve educating North Korean medical personnel and providing essential drugs for infants and children, will require 12-point-six million dollars. The government plans to provide about half of the funds first.
