President Park Pledges Support for Sports

President Park Geun-hye says the government will try to find and support sport elites in a scientific and systematic manner.

The president said that Korea should grow to be a leading sports power where school sports, public sports and elite sports can make a virtuous circle. 

She made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the the 94th National Sports Festival which kicked off Friday in Incheon City for a 7-day run. 
 
The Korean National Sports Festival is an annual sports competition held in South Korea with the hosting site rotating among the major cities of the nation. 

Over 20-thousand athletes will compete in more than 46 different sports in 65 sporting facilities throughout the port city that will host 2014 Asian Games.
