KCNA: Mongolian President Meets N. Korean Parliamentary Chief

North Korea’s state-run media says Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj met the head of North Korean parliament, Kim Yong-nam, in Pyongyang on Monday.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports Elbegdorj and Kim met at the Mansudae Assembly Hall where they discussed advancing friendly relations and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. No other details of the meeting were provided.

The news agency also said the Mongolian president attended a banquet hosted by the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly. He said peace and security in Northeast Asia is particularly important to Mongolia and North Korea.

Elbegdorj is the first foreign leader to visit the North since Kim Jong-un assumed power. He is also likely to become the first foreign head of state to meet with the North Korean leader.
