Coach Hong Meets UNAIDS Executive Director

Coach Hong Myung-bo of the South Korean national soccer team has met with visiting Executive Director of the United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), Michel Sidibé.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) said Hong promised on Wednesday to continue his role of promoting the UN organization’s activities through football as UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador. Hong was the first Asian named UNAIDS International Goodwill Ambassador in November 2011.

He also pledged efforts to end discrimination against AIDS patients in South Korea.

As a gift to Sidibé, Coach Hong gave a scroll in which the UNAIDS’ slogan “Getting to Zero” is written.

UNAIDS, a UN organization founded in 1996, helps countries treat, control and prevent AIDS.
