A memorial to commemorate the war on the Korean Peninsula 1950-53 was opened Wednesday local time inside the Pentagon, Washington D.C. At the opening ceremony held at the Department of Defense building, Korean Ambassador to Washington Yang Sung-chul reminded those present that more than 54,000 Americans died during the war. Yang said the Korean people will never, and must never, forget the sacrifice and contribution made by America's brave fighters. The Korean War Memorial was opened several months before the 50th anniversary this July of the signing of the Armistice Agreement that ended the Korean War.
