Churches Hold Christmas Services Across Nation

Anchor: Churches and cathedrals across South Korea held services and masses on Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Our Bae Joo-yon has more.

Report: At the Myeongdong Cathedral, a Christmas mass was held at noon Wednesday with Archbishop Andrew Yeom Soo-jung of the Seoul Archdiocese presiding.

The archbishop prayed that all families will see their houses filled with God’s blessings on the day celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Youngnak Presbyterian Church and Sarang Community Church in Seoul both held Christmas services three times on Wednesday.

Leading Christian organizations, including the National Council of Churches, held a joint service in front of the Seoul Plaza at 3:00 p.m.

In a message, the National Council of Churches stressed that best efforts must be made to uphold God’s justice and to build a community of peace.

The Christian Council of Korea also said in a Christmas message that all people should work to take after God’s gentleness and humility. The council also prayed that God’s blessings will always be with all people.
