Seoul's presidential office has said that President Moon Jae-in is expected to attend the Group of 7(G7) summit in June.

On Friday, presidential spokesperson Kang Min-seok confirmed that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had sent Moon a letter inviting him to the event in Cornwall.

According to Kang, Johnson said it's important to reflect Korea's voice in issues ranging from the coronavirus pandemic to free trade and climate change.

The spokesman said Moon will reply to Johnson in a letter to express his intentions to contribute to a successful G7, and as such, Moon is expected to attend.

In Johnson's letter, the British prime minister also accepted Moon’s invitation to attend the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030, or P4G Summit, which Seoul will host virtually in May.

Last week, Britain announced its plan to hold an in-person summit in June and named South Korea, Australia and India as guest nations.
