North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is expected to depart for China on Monday to attend a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Kim is likely to use his personal train when he travels to Beijing for the parade, set to take place in Tiananmen Square on Wednesday.

During his most recent trip to China, in 2019, he traveled by train to Beijing through Dandong, a Chinese city on the border with North Korea.

Kim has not used his personal jet, the Chammae-1, for long-distance trips in recent years, and security has been tightened around Dandong.

Since the journey from Pyongyang to Beijing usually takes between 20 and 24 hours, Kim is expected to leave Pyongyang on Monday and pass through Dandong late at night.
