The body of a South Korean woman was discovered near the border between Vietnam and Cambodia, prompting both South Korean and Vietnamese authorities to launch investigations.

The Seoul Hyehwa Police Station announced on Wednesday that the woman, who was in her 30s, had been found dead on October 7 in an unspecified border area.

Vietnamese police are investigating the cause of the death, and the woman’s remains were returned to her family following the autopsy.

South Korean police have opened a preliminary inquiry into the matter after receiving a report from the family.

Investigators are also looking into potential links between the victim and a voice phishing network that has been active in the region.

Police said they would disclose further details as the joint investigation progresses.
