Delegates from Asian Cities to Gather in Seoul

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will host the plenary meeting of the Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC21) in central Seoul for two days from Monday.

In this year’s meeting, roughly 80 delegates from twelve Asian cities will participate. They include Tokyo Vice Governor Kazuo Yoshikawa, Taipei Deputy Mayor Chen Wei Zen, and Bangkok Deputy Governor Vallop Suwandee.

Delegations from each city will report on the results of the past year’s joint projects, including the development of tourism and their cities, and projects to facilitate women’s participation in society. They will also discuss the development of waterfront areas in large cities and the prevention of damage from large-scale disasters.

The international network is made up of Asian cities organized for the discussion of joint development. It was launched by eleven Asian cities in 2001.
