WSJ: NK Partially Reopens Border Crossings with China

The Wall Street Journal reports that North Korea has reopened some of its border crossings with China.

The U.S. daily quoted Chinese officials and traders as saying that after announcing Kim Jong-il’s death on Monday, North Korea closed its side of the border with China to all but returning North Korean people.

However, the North partially reopened border crossings with China on Wednesday.

The newspaper reported that a handful of minibuses and trucks were seen crossing the border in each direction at Hunchun, usually one of the busiest transit points.

A Chinese official said the crossing in Dandong was also open Wednesday.
