S.Korean Firms Take 5% of iPhone Selling Price

A new study shows that roughly five percent of the selling price of iPhones goes to South Korean companies with the sale of every unit.

The finding was made in a joint study conducted by the University of California Berkeley and Syracuse University in July.

The results show that Apple’s profit accounts for 58-point-five percent in the selling price of an iPhone. Costs for parts make up 22 percent and South Korean companies take four-point-seven percent of the selling price. Two-point-four percent goes to U.S. companies other than Apple, and Japanese and Taiwanese firms both earn profits of roughly five-tenths of a percent of the selling price.

Whenever an iPad is sold, 30 percent of the selling price goes to Apple. South Korean companies take seven percent of the price, a bigger share than any other U.S., Japanese and Taiwanese companies.
