US Consumer Confidence Index Posts Highest Level Since April

The U.S. consumer confidence index posted growth for the second consecutive month in December after surging to its highest level since April.

U.S. private research association, The Conference Board, said Tuesday that the index stood at 64-point-five in December or up nearly ten points from November.

The figure is significantly larger than market analysts’ estimate of 59.

However, the index is still below the 90-plus readings that signal a stable economy.
