'Dialogue Should Resume Under Appropriate Conditions'

The nation’s top nuclear negotiator says South Korea and the United States agreed that dialogue with North Korea on its nuclear ambitions should resume “under appropriate conditions.”

Lim Sung-nam made the remark after meeting with U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies in Washington on Wednesday. Lim, however, did not elaborate on the “appropriate conditions.”

The South Korean nuke envoy said the U.S. is ready to hold talks with the North once it sends out a signal, suggesting the talks could resume at an early date depending on the North’s response.

Lim did not disclose whether he and Davies talked about the issue of providing food aid to the North during their meeting.
