China’s Ministry of National Defense has denied media reports that Chinese forces entered North Korea in the wake of late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s death.

Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun said in a monthly news briefing on Wednesday that the reports were completely groundless.

Following the death of the late North Korean leader, some Chinese news outlets cited online rumors saying that 150-thousand Chinese forces had entered the territory of North Korea at the request of Pyongyang to help maintain its stability.
