A Korean father and his adult daughter have been rescued by local police in South Africa after being kidnapped in for two days.

A 71-year-old man who runs a trade company and his daughter were kidnapped at three a.m. local time in Johannesburg and were released yesterday morning, according to the Korean embassy there.

The captures are said to have contacted the father through an e-mail, saying they would help him supply fire-fighting equipment to Iraq. He and his daughter were kidnapped right after they arrived at Johannesburg Airport.

The criminals demanded a huge ransom but were caught at a nearby area Thursday morning by South African police, who had been contacted by the Korean embassy.

Five of the six suspects are said to be Nigerian.
