Davies: Ball in Both U.S. and N. Korea's Courts

The U.S.’s chief negotiator to high-level talks with North Korea says the ball is in the courts of both the U.S. and North Korea regarding the results of recent high-level discussions.

U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies made the remark upon arriving in Japan on Monday.

Davies’s statement is regarded to have a diplomatic implication. The U.S. and the North held their third round of high-level bilateral talks in Beijing last Thursday and Friday. The dialogue was the first to be held since the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and the transition of power to his son Kim Jong-un.

Sources familiar with issues regarding North Korea's nuclear issue say the two sides are regarded to have held substantial discussions on the North’s preliminary measures for denuclearization and America’s provision of food aid to the communist state.
