Supporters, Opponents of Putin Rally in Moscow

Supporters of parties opposing Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin held rallies in Moscow following Putin’s victory in the recent presidential election.

Three opposition parties organized an anti-Putin rally at Pushkin Plaza north of the Kremlin on Monday night, local time. The rally drew 20-thousand opponents of Putin.

The chairman of the opposition People’s Freedom Party said opposition forces will continue to stage a peaceful and nonviolent protest against Putin until their calls for earlier general elections are accepted. He also accused Putin for committing fraud in the latest presidential election.

Meanwhile, some 15-thousand people held a rally in support of Putin at a plaza near the Kremlin, pledging to uphold Putin’s reelection as president.
