Japanese Lawmakers Draw up Bill Backing Death with Dignity

A Japanese daily says Japanese lawmakers are working on a bill that recognizes the right to die with dignity.

The Tokyo Shimbun reported that a bipartisan group of Japanese lawmakers drew up the legislation so doctors will not be liable even if they agree to remove terminally ill patients from life support.

The group is 110 members strong from both ruling and opposition parties. It aims to finalize the bill in a general meeting and submit it to a regular parliamentary session for passage.
