Philippine Ex-President Pleads Not Guilty to Corruption Charges

Former Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her husband have pleaded not guilty to corruption charges.

Arroyo and her husband maintained their innocence on Wednesday, as prosecutors charge they allegedly received millions of U.S. dollars in bribes for pushing through a 330 million dollar government contract with a Chinese telecommunications company in 2007.

Arroyo cancelled the deal the same year under mounting public pressure following a congressional probe.
