World Bank Nominee: Would Not be Afraid to Challenge Existing Orthodoxies

U.S. nominee for the World Bank Presidency , Jim Yong Kim, says he would bring a new kind of leadership to the international institution if elected.

In a statement to the World Bank Board of Directors on Wednesday, Kim said he would ask “hard questions about the status quo” and would not be afraid “to challenge existing orthodoxies.”

Kim stressed he would bring a global orientation to his leadership and work to build a consensus to advance the mission of the World Bank, noting he was born in Korea, raised in the United States, and has worked on several continents.
