China’s Foreign Ministry says the U.N. Security Council’s adoption of a presidential statement condemning North Korea’s rocket launch reflects a common perception shared by the international community.

Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin made the remarks on Tuesday on the ministry’s Web site regarding the North’s recent rocket launch.

The spokesman also said that China stressed its efforts to mitigate tensions on the Korean Peninsula in order to maintain peace and security in Northeast Asia.
