Samsung, LG Win Antidumping Suit in US

The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) has ruled in favor of Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics in an antidumping suit filed by U.S. appliance maker, Whirlpool.

On its Web site, the trade commission said Tuesday that it “determined that a U.S. industry is not materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports of bottom mount refrigerator-freezers from Korea.”

The commission’s decision comes after the U.S. Department of Commerce determined last month the South Korean firms were selling the products at below market value. It had sought to slap antidumping duties of up to 30-point-three percent on LG and nearly 16 percent on Samsung.
