US, European Stocks Fall on Debt Worries in Southern Europe

U.S. and European stocks fell Wednesday following a day marked by Wall Street's best gains in a month.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost zero-point-63 percent and the Nasdaq composite index slid zero-point-37 percent.

The German and French bourses tumbled one percent and one-point-six percent, respectively.

The drop followed the dismal news about Spanish banks’ increased bad loans and the Italian government’s lowering of its economic growth outlook.

West Texas Intermediate crude slipped one-point-five percent to close at 102 dollars and 67 cents a barrel, as the U.S. is said to have more crude reserve than expected.
