Pakistani Aircraft Crash Kills 127

A Pakistani commercial aircraft crashed during bad weather conditions into a residential area near Islamabad Airport on Friday, killing all 127 passengers and crew members on board.

The Boeing 737 aircraft, operated by Bhoja Air, was unreachable by air control around 6:40 in the evening after it requested permission for landing in Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

Pakistani Defense Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhar said the plane had tried to force-land in torrential rains but fell into a residential area several kilometers away.

The crash has been attributed to the bad weather, with the Pakistani Defense Ministry spokesman saying the aircraft had been hit by strong lightning shortly before the accident.
