Tibetan Protesters Clash with Chinese Security Forces

A pro-Tibet online news portal reports that Chinese public security forces clashed with thousands of Tibetan protesters for two days, following a forced shutdown of a Tibetan organization in Garze, a Tibetan autonomous region in Sichuan Province.

The news portal “Tibet Express” said that thousands of Tibetan people staged a two-day protest against China’s shutdown of a Tibetan organization named “Dayul United Association” on April 14th. The news portal added that 19 people were wounded and 33 were detained during the protest.

Chinese public security forces also arrested a Tibetan singer for singing politically sensitive songs, which call on young Tibetan people to retain their national identity.

Pro-Tibet groups said that since 2009, over 30 Tibetan people have set themselves ablaze in protest against China’s rule of Tibet, and 25 have died from their injuries.
