CNBC: Samsung Electronics Emerges as Most Valued Brand in Asia

U.S. business news channel CNBC says Samsung Electronics has emerged as the most valued brand by consumers in Asia.

Quoting a survey by research firm Nielsen and media magazine Campaign Asia-Pacific, CNBC said Thursday that the South Korean electronics giant topped the list in terms of best brand after a second place ranking last year. Sony slid to third place after topping the list for four years.

Apple climbed to second after a sixth place finish in 2011, while LG Electronics and Canon jointly ranked tenth.

The recent survey was conducted on 48-hundred people from 12 countries in Asia. Respondents were asked to pick the best brand out of 14 major product and service categories.
