Osaka-based Polical Group Announces New Campaign Policies

Osaka-based political organization "Ishin no Kai," has suggesting holding a referendum to determine whether the Constitution's war-prohibiting Article 9 should be eased.

Japanese media report that the party, led by Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto, announced the party's revised rules as part of its campaign policies for the upcoming elections.

The new rules call for a referendum regarding Article 9 of the Constitution, which states that Japan should give up its right to war and its defense capabilities.

The political party also calls for a consolidation of Japan’s defense capabilities and political measures that enable the country to protect its sovereignty and territory on its own.
