Vice Foreign Minister to Attend Afghanistan Conference in Toyko

Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Sung-han is scheduled to attend an international conference on Afghanistan in Tokyo on Sunday.

Japan and Afghanistan are jointly hosting the event which will be attended by 55 government representatives including foreign ministers from the U.S., Britain and Germany. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will also attend.

Participants will discuss policies the Afghanistan government can implement to develop its economy and society, in addition to ways the international community can lend support.

Kim is expected to express the South Korean government’s willingness to cooperate in rehabilitating the Afghan economy. He will also stress the need for continuous cooperation between the Afghan government and the global community in order to achieve peace and stability in the war-torn nation.
