More Young Japanese Women Visiting S. Korea

The number of Japanese women in their 20s visiting South Korea has risen sharply.

Japan’s largest travel group JTB says some 516-thousand Japanese women in their 20s visited South Korea last year, double the number of travelers in that demographic from 2008.

The travel group also found that out of all Japanese women in their 20s who traveled abroad in 2011, nearly 28 percent visited South Korea.

JTB says that of the women it asked why they chose South Korea, most cited tasty dishes, cheap products and skin care.

The sharp growth in these Japanese travelers also apparently stems from the high value of the yen and the popularity of K-Pop stars in Japan.
