N.Korea-China Hold FM Talks in Cambodia

North Korea and China have reportedly held foreign ministers’ talks to discuss ways to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Japan’s Kyodo News Agency reported that Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and his North Korean counterpart Park Ui-chun on Wednesday held talks in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The agency said that in the talks, Yang is believed to have asked the North to refrain from making further provocations in order to resume the stalled six-party nuclear talks soon.

In response, Park reportedly claimed that the North’s nuclear development is part of its self-defense efforts to cope with the U.S. nuclear threats.

There is a speculation that during the talks, the two sides discussed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s visit to China.
