The British government will mobilize three-thousand-500 more soldiers to ensure London’s safe hosting of the 2012 Olympic Games.

A spokesman for Britain’s Home Office said that the additional use of military forces for security purposes during the Olympic Games is also to save civilian security companies the burden of hiring more guards.

Seventeen-thousand British soldiers will be mobilized for security tasks during the Olympics, double the number of British troops stationed in Afghanistan.
