BBC Conducts Probe into Savile Sex Scandal

The director general of BBC says that his company is conducting its own investigation into sex abuse allegations involving famous British media personality Jimmy Savile.

BBC Director General George Entwistle told a parliamentary select committee on culture, media and sports Tuesday that roughly ten former and incumbent BBC employees are being questioned in relation to the sex scandal.

Entwistle faced hours of grilling by members of the Commons Culture Committee on his company’s handling of the Savile sex scandal Tuesday morning.

Savile, a disc jockey and TV show presenter, died in October, 2011, at the age of 84. TV documentary “Panorama” recently accused him of sexually exploiting teenage girls in the 1970s.
