US Federal Reserve to Keep Focus on Expanding Liquidity

The U.S. Federal Reserve has decided to continue expanding liquidity through a third round of quantitative easing measures to energize the U.S. economy.

The U.S. central bank convened a regular meeting of its key Federal Open Market Committee on Wednesday and agreed to keep pursuing measures to rev up the economy that were agreed to last month.

During a meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee last month, the Federal Reserve unveiled plans to buy 40 billion dollars in mortgage-backed securities each month and to keep short-term interest rates at "exceptionally low levels" until mid-2015.
