Spain Seizes European Record Amount of Hashish

Spanish police have seized a European record amount of hashish.

The police confiscated 52 tons of the narcotic substance and arrested three people in Seville and Huelva in the southern region of Andalusia.

Spain is known to be a key entry point for drugs into Europe, with its close ties to major cocaine producer Latin America and its proximity to major hashish exporter Morocco.

Last year, Spain seized 20-point-seven tons of cocaine and 325-point-five tons of hashish.

That's 42 percent of total cocaine seized across Europe in 2012 and 73 percent of total hashish confiscated.
