California Judge Orders Google to Disclose Documents on Android System

Bloomberg reports Google has been ordered to disclose how it’s searching for internal documents related to its Android operating system sought by Apple as part of a patent lawsuit against Samsung Electronics.

Bloomberg said Thursday that U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal in San Jose, California, ordered Google to disclose within two days "what terms it’s using to find documents Apple has requested in pretrial information sharing." He also said Apple must be told which Google employees those documents came from.

Bloomberg said Apple is seeking the information as part of its second patent case against Samsung in the same court. Apple claims that Google’s Android is used in all of Samsung’s allegedly infringing products and “provides much of the accused functionality” in Apple’s claims.
